Windlight Spring 2016 Art Show April 11 to April 17, 2016

Make sure to visit the Windlight Spring 2016 Art Show this week (April 11 to April 17, 2016)! Some very talented artists are showcasing amazing art for just this limited time. Dip

I had to check out Valaskala, the exhibit by Instincta and Stem van Helsinki. I was kind of just bouncing around jumping off the planets and things until I got down to the whale on the land level. The animation (Animlia) I used for the picture was in their single avatar pose tool diamond. I used region settings for windlight but added a bit of gamma to show you details of the outfit better. Check out this exhibit at LEA19 with the sounds on as they are a big part of the installation. (Pieni wrote about the exhibit on the Galleria Kakku blog).

The Gathering Frost

I went to see The Gathering by Bryn Oh, and I am so happy that I finally have a computer that lets me put the settings like she instructed. Just makes the whole experience better. Read the stuff at the landing before stepping in. I will need to go back again, soon. I did not want to spoil too much so you are just getting a strange shadowy background.

Pop-Up Art Park

Here is a really special treat for you all. It is the Pop-Up Art Park, by Derry McMahon and Bear Silvershade, at Bay City. It is open for one more week, so go before it is too late. They are only doing a two week stint, as the name of the exhibit implies, and one week has flown by already.

Both artists have their own recognizable style and so much talent. Bear Silvershade uses his imagination and photojournalist skills in creating mysterious, full of feeling images, often in black and white. I have heard him narrating stories in Raglan Shire and according to his artist profile, he does that regularly at Seanchai Library, where Derry is Librarian Emeritus.

Derry makes already lovely scenes look even more special with her keen eye for lighting and detail. Many of her pictures are likely to make you feel good, or feel something deeper in any case than just pleasantness of a nice image. She is showcasing her art at the famous art sim Avalon and is a great narrator, like Bear.

She and I share a space at Raglan Tree Gallery, open until end of this month, still. Bear and Derry both have participated in the popular Raglan Shire Art Walk and have some art on display at Heron Shire, next sim over.

Ciudades Heridas, by Orsini Tarantal

I came by a really wonderful exhibit called Ciudades Heridas, by Orsini Tarantal, Javier Escudero Cuervas-Mons by his real life name, from Canary Islands, Spain, at the Gallery 24, on the Tabula Rasa art sim. I  did not want to give up too much in my pictures from the gallery. The paintings are beautiful in all their devastating feelings of loss. They are about cities, and the people through whose whims they are being born and destroyed. I could spend hours looking at each of them. The opening of the exhibit was May 3rd and it will last through May and June. The gallery is curated by Kayly Iali, whose art is also present in this gallery and a couple others, to which you can find a tp by the door.

Peek-A-Boo at Art Walk 2015

Art Walk at Raglan Shire is a huge annual event, this year starting 3rd of May and lasting until May 31st. In the set up instructions for artists, organizers Karma, Dagmar and Jillan inform us that around 115 artists have applied for a spot this year.

The event spreads over the area of four sims. There is the hedge for 2d artwork and spaces made available for sculptures. Even with so much hedge space to put your art on, people camp out to set up. The last picture of these was taken only 45 minutes in of set up time and you can see how there is a lot of space already taken off the famous art hedge.

Our blog fox Pieni is participating again, this time with 2d artwork. Her Shire shop is in the tree city on a platform pointing towards Tiny Inc. so it was natural to pick a spot next to the famous home of Dinkies. Not having camped out, this was a great spot to get to, even though it is not in the center area of the main sim.

Peek-A-Boo is a look into life as a small critter in Second Life. Imagine going about your day ankle high, poking your nose in place it does not belong. What would you find inside an old tree trunk or underground in someones lair?

City Inside Out" by Haveit Neox

I was given the information notecard of this exhibit, after a random conversation in a group chat, and I am so happy to have found it. You can also read about it in the artists's website. I am so in awe of the talent of the person who created all this, Haveit Neox. I recommend visiting the sim several times. Just landing at the start of the exhibit alone puts you in a whole new mind space. And the more you walk around the better it gets. It is like stepping inside a comic book, with a depth to the storyline that makes the beauty of the graphics even more touching. The Exhibit is part of the LEA Land Grant round eight.

Make sure to enter Raglan Shire ArtWalk 2015, which will be held in the Raglan Shire sim cluster May 3rd - 31st, 2015. All SL residents are welcome. The sim cluster is g-rated so that needs to be taken into account when visiting, and with what you showcase. You can show real life or Second Life art work or both. It can be images put on prim, or sculptures, or both. Registering ends Sunday, April 26th at 9 pm SLT. More information and the application.
